Veiligheidsregio — Riskfactory
For six weeks I completed a paid internship at Veiligheidsregio, working for their Riskfactory department. Riskfactory is an experiential learning centre where children and elderly people learn about safety and emergency situations by actually doing them, hands-on scenarios that make safety education stick in a way a classroom never could.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Photography
One of my assignments was to create a new photo series for Riskfactory. The existing images were outdated and no longer representative of what the centre offers. I was asked to photograph two target groups, primary school children and senior citizens, across multiple scenarios, one set per group. The photos were used across their website, flyers, and social media channels.
I handled the entire production myself: finding models, planning shoot dates, coordinating locations within the centre, and arranging catering. From the first concept to the final delivery, every part of the process was mine to manage.

Interior Design
My second assignment was to design the welcome hall for a new Riskfactory location, aimed at a new target group: secondary school students around year two. This age group tends to switch off quickly when something feels too safe or too predictable, so the space needed to grab their attention the moment they walked in, making them think: okay, something is actually happening here.
After the welcome hall, students move into a briefing room where they receive instructions before entering the scenarios. This room is intentionally kept dark and minimal, functioning as a multifunctional space that can also be used for other occasions such as standing meetings. By keeping the atmosphere consistent with the rest of the building, the transition feels seamless rather than jarring. The only point of focus is where the projector lights the wall.
I worked out the full interior concept, sourced all materials, and documented everything so the design could be executed without me. It was, and the result matched the vision exactly.
